Jurjen van der Noord will aim for the new world record speed with Mistral

I decided to ride Mistral boards from now on.

I always had a soft spot for Mistral. I started, as a lot of windsurfers, my windsurf career on a Mistral. As a young guy I had poster on my wall with the big guns riding waves on Mistral boards. The big blue M with the red dot always made my hart beat faster. I got the opportunity to ride them, now with the very good boards and shapes, the choice was made quickly.

With a lot of joy I've been sailing Starboard. But after 5 years Starboard the time has come to make a change in board brand. Many thanks to all the Starboard people for the support they gave me! Starboard is a great brand and the people who work there rock!

I feel very confident that I will make a good chance to get the World Record Speed in Namibia this year with the Mistral Speed boards. These board have proven themselves in the last few years. In cooperation with Anders Bringdal and Chris Lockwood the boards have been further optimized. I think that we got extremely good speed and slalom boards now.

The way the boards are build, the very good quality and a different approach to the shapes and market made me enthusiastic. Mistral slalom, speed and freeride boards are a little bit longer than most other boards. This helps to get planing easier and gives more control in chop, without compromising on speed. The performance of the boards in wind holes is also very good because of the somewhat longer waterline.

Mistral Speed 47: Sails 6.2 – 7.0
Mistral Speed 55: Sails 7.0 – 7.8
Mistral Slalom 112 or Screamer 110: Sails 7.0 – 8.6
Mistral Slalom 138 or Screamer 140: Sails 8.6- 9.6

Mistral boards are designed by different renowned designers. The slalom and speed boards are designed by Chris Lookwood, the super fast Screamer by Paolo Rista and all the other boards by Gianni Valdanbrini.

Mistral hasn't been available the last few year in my home country, The Netherlands. The complete line from Starterboards, to Freeride, Freestyle, Wave, Speed and Slalom, will be available again in the Netherlands from now on!

As a team rider I will be involved in the development of the speed boards. Besides that I will be commercial involved with Mistal Boards as well. After Summer most boards, if not all, will be available for testing.
