Severne is proud to announce the addition of Steve Allen to their international team . Steve’s long experience in FW windsurfing and R&D experience will enable him to work closely with Ben Severne and Bjoern Dunkerbeck. Together, they will propel the race program to another level for 2010.

Steve’s achievements in the race scene have been making headlines, especially earlier this year as he returned to full action and clinched 3 Polish National Titles. In addition, his recent win in Spain, is his ninth professional Windsurfing World Champion Title. “It was an amazing achievement for me to win these events again as I had just had the longest break that I had ever had from windsurfing” says Steve after winning the Sopot event.

Interview with Steve Allen

Why did you decide to go with Severne?

I appreciate that they are motivated to make the best and want me to assist in developing the best sails in the World.

Was Bjorn a key player in making your decision?

In a way yes, as Severne has Bjorn and also wanted to work with me, clearly they are serious about wanting to make the best sails in the world, that we can win with.

How would u describe your style of testing with Bjorn?

It is simply very precise as Bjorn and I know each other for a long time and we have trained together before. We also seem to want the same things in the sails and work together very well.

After having just spend one week in Fuerte with Bjoern and Ben, how do you feel about your future co-operation?

I am extremely motivated and can’t wait to get down to Western Australia to expand on all of our exciting ideas. We have also always got on well which is very important for a good development team.

In what areas do you feel your input is most valuable to the R&D program?

Everywhere, I can help in many areas as can Bjorn and I really believe all together with Ben we have great possibilities to come up with something extremely special for 2010 that can also work for a wide range of people.

Where will you spend the coming month? Preferred training/testing locations?

I will go to Sylt soon for PWA event where will also do some more testing when possible. Then after this we will fly to WA for more intense testing in all conditions.

Do you see yourself predominately as a racer or developer or both?

I have experience in developing everything, but I will mainly be involved on the high end race gear for starters. This is the most important, as what we develop here can be implemented into many different sails.

What events are you planing to participate in 2010?

I plan to take part in all major FW events and the PWA slalom tour.
